Generic Actonel risedronate is used to treat bone disease (Paget's disease). It lessens bone pain and may prevent long-term problems. It also is applied to treat and prevent bone loss (osteoporosis). Store Actonel tablets at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Dosage Forms and Capacity
- 5 mg film-coated, oval, yellow tablet with RSN on 1 face and 5 mg on the other.
- 30 mg film-coated, oval, white tablet with RSN on 1 face and 30 mg on the other.
- 35 mg film-coated, oval, orange tablet with RSN on 1 face and 35 mg on the other.
- 75 mg film-coated, oval, pink tablet with RSN on 1 face and 75 mg on the other.
- 150 mg film-coated, oval, blue tablet with RSN on 1 face and 150 mg on the other.
Side Effects
Side effects for generic Actonel risedronatemay include back, muscle, bone or joint pain, stomach pain or upset, or constipation. A very severe side effect of using Generic Actonel risedronateis osteonecrosis of the jaw.
What other drugs will affect Generic Actonel risedronate?
Antacids, supplements, or medicines that contain aluminum, calcium, magnesium, or other minerals can obstruct with how your body absorbs this medicine. If you are taking these medicines, do not take them for at least half an hour after taking a generic Actonel risedronatetablet.
Before you takegeneric Actonel risedronate, notify your doctor if you also use aspirin or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), diflunisal (Dolobid), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin, ketoprofen (Orudis), ketorolac (Toradol), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others. Besides your doctor should also know about the vitamins, minerals, herbal products you are using. Do not use a new medication without prior consultation of your doctor.
Overdose
If you have taken an overdose of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, do not take it later in the day. Take your normal dose the next morning. Do not take double or extra doses.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be used in following case:
- Failure to stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes
- Hypocalcemia
- Known hypersensitivity to any component of this product
Pregnancy
The safety and effectiveness of risedronate has not been established in pregnant women. Physicians must consequently consider the prospective benefits and unknown risks cautiously.
Nursing Mothers
No specific proof is accessible whether generic actonel risedronateis safe for women who are nursing. This medicine was detected in feeding pups used in lactating rats for a 24-hour period post-dosing. It represented a small quantity of lacteal transfer. It is not identified whether ACTONEL is excreted in human milk. There is possibility for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants from ACTONEL.
